25 Beautiful Gardens

Westonbirt

International Garden Festival

Gardenworks was set up by Paul Bradford who has been creating innovative, challenging and exciting gardens for the past 20 years. A graduate of the London School of Economics, Paul's interest in garden design began after a stint working for the prolific florist and contemporary garden designer Stephen Woodhams. He then set up on his own as Gardenworks and for the next 17 years has worked on projects for a variety of high-profile clients. While Paul's influences include the likes of the Dutch plantsman Piet Oudulf, the late Christopher Lloyd and the architect Geoffrey Bawa, his passion for design was also inspired by his parents with his father, a retired architect, and his mother, an avid organic gardener since the early 1970s, both influencing the way in which he works.

Today, Gardenwork's portfolio encompasses everything from farmhouses to roof top gardens, from family spaces to, most recently, a private hospital garden. Whatever the project, though, his work is always defined by a rare precision and attention to detail on one hand and an innovative use of traditional sustainable materials and creative planting on the other. It is, moreover, a style and an ethos that has seen his Gardenworks design business gain a reputation across the south-east as one of the most artful, imaginative and original garden designers in the industry.
