Beaconsfield Conservation Area, Brighton

The clients were in the midst of major building works on this double fronted property in a conservation area.

A Room outside was created using brazilian slate paviours. A sunken breakfast patio was created that nestled amongst fragrant and low maintenance planting including Jasmine, Sedums, Miscanthus, Echinacea, Buxus, Echinops, Knautia.

A cedar wood slatted fence was built for privacy and to act as a backdrop for the vertical accents of the planting beds.

The essential lawn area retained two old distinctive apple trees which much character. A raised evening sun terrace was created at rear of garden to catch the evening sun. This was also laid using slate and had a lighting scheme to illuminate foliage of some of the more architectural plants.

Another small patio with a central water bowl feature was situated next to the rear sun terrace for moments of quiet contemplation.

Key elements:

- a room outside
- breakfast patio
- evening sun terrace
- lighting scheme
- water bowl feature

"Gardenworks completely transformed our garden into a stunning, contemporary outdoor space. Paul had fantastic ideas about how to make the most of the space, incorporating several levels, different seating areas, lighting and a water feature. Paul offered advice about which plants would suit the soil / aspect etc and took into consideration our ideas and preferences for plants and colour, including making a feature of our lovely old Victorian apple trees. Paul and his team were considerate, helpful and hard working professionals, happy to be flexible as changes became necessary.  We now have the garden of our dreams. Gardenworks are thoroughly recommended."
